Not so fast

A new study by a Tulane University scientist found smoking weed regularly may cause infertility in men.

  • Published in the journal Therapeutic Advances in Urology, the study surveyed men undergoing fertility evaluation at a clinic in Washington state.
  • Of the 409 men in the study, current and past users were more than twice as likely to have abnormal sperm development. They were also significantly more likely to have low semen volume.
  • On the plus side, smoking cannabis might improve sperm motility, but to a less significant degree.
  • As always, much more research is needed.
